how to connect bluetooth headphones to ps4

Batteries on headsets may die in a short amount of time and the headset wireless connection can be unreliable. Bluetooth headphones are great for when you want to listen to music, but they do not work well with PS4 controllers. The PS4 has no built-in Bluetooth receiver or transmitter for headsets or other devices. But, there’s hope! We’ve found several ways to connect a bluetooth device without connecting it directly to the console.

1) Use a USB Bluetooth Receiver from your computer: This is an inexpensive and easy way to connect bluetooth headphones without having them tethered by cable (which can get messy). You’ll need to purchase a USB Bluetooth receiver that is compatible with the PS4 and plug it directly into the PS4.

2) Use a Wireless Gaming Receiver (WGR): This is an adapter that comes in several varieties and makes a great alternative to this adapter. The advantage of the WGR is that you can use wired headphones and switch back and forth wirelessly.

3) Use a TV with Bluetooth: You can connect your headphones to your television, which will make it easier to switch back and forth between devices. If you play games on multiple consoles, this may be the best option if you don’t want to buy any other equipment.

4) Use a PS3 headset: You can also use your old PS3 headset on the PS4. Just plug it into the controller and press the multi-function button (the “Start” button on your controller). It recognizes the device as an external speaker and will play it through your headset. This doesn’t work with all devices, however, so test this out before jumping in.

5) Use any other Bluetooth-enabled device: Any other headset and mobile device can be connected to the PS4 or used as a dedicated music player to listen to music while gaming. There are Bluetooth receivers available for sale on Amazon, including the most popular IOGear. These can also function as a wireless mic for gaming.

For PS3 Bluetooth devices you will need to purchase a bluetooth USB adapter here that fits the Sony PS3 controlle

The controller will then prompt you to pair, which you do just as you would on any other device. Voila! Headphones are connected! You can also use this method to connect a wireless headset mic as well.
